Although you do not have a permanent contract as a temporary worker, you do build up seniority.
But the calculation is different than for permanent employees. For a temporary worker, the number
of years is not taken into account, but the periods of activity at your temporary employment agency.
This means that all the days worked of all your temporary employment contracts are added up. This
is how you build up your seniority as a temporary worker.
As a temporary worker, you build up seniority less quickly. Because as a temporary worker you can
also lose your seniority, for example if you are unemployed for more than one week between two
contracts.
But in some cases, you can keep your seniority!
- Do you have a contract, but do you become ill and are you unable to work? Then you will keep your accumulated seniority.
- You won’t lose seniority if you do not work for less than one week.
